Endangered NJ & Oogling Owls Shows

Learn about factors that threaten animals with endangerment and extinction worldwide. Through use of artifacts and live animals, participants will learn the status of native NJ fauna. Also observe live owls up close and learn about their behavior, adaptations, ecological importance and more!

"The Buzz on Bees"

MEVO will discuss bees, the basics of beekeeping and how beekeeping efforts at MEVO are going . Currently MEVO operates 17 behives with most residing at BCC in Paramus, NJ with an expansion to come soon. Beekeeping equipment w an enclosed live beehive will be on display!

Lamont Earth Observatory which is part of Columbia University is located in in nearby Palisades, NY.  Increasing public awareness is a core part of Lamont' mission. With this activity attendees can experience activities for science enthusiasts of all ages including displays of old and current earthquake monitoring seismometering, volcano exhibits, fracking outreach information, use of microscopes and slides and more!

Come check out our green cars on display which provides companies and dealerships an opportunity to showcase the latest electric vehicles (EVs) and green or hybrid cars or equipment . Local EV Clubs and area car dealerships/businesses have been invited and may be present to also show off their vehicles.  Come down and see or learn about the latest EV's or green technologies and vehicle offerings and more. Also learn more about local EV Clubs and offerings!

 

Macroinvertebrate Life - A Walk Along the Tenakill (Times: 11:30, 1:00, 2:30 - meet in front of Closter Library)

Search nearby Tenakill Brook for invertebrates (animals without backbones) and find out how they live and what they can tell us about the health of a stream.  Stream Biologist Butch Rosenfeld will demonstrate how to collect these rarely seen animals and help you identify them.
